History #2

The entire bible is correct because it has no errors in it. Though it may sound outrageous, be have no reason to distrust it. It has never contradicted itself. There are outside sources in the roman empire, including accounts from historians which talk about the events in the bible. There are also geographical places described in the bible which have been found. Everything in the bible is true because nothing has ever proved any of it wrong. There are 5,686 Greek manuscripts in existence today for the New Testament. There are also over 19,000 copies in the Syriac, Latin, Coptic, and Aramaic languages. People have tried to argue that the bible is false but nothing has surfaced that would make the bible wrong about anything.

History #1

If paige really believed that history is pointless, because it is all subjective and changes when the winners write it, then that would mean that we should all study history even more, to find out the truth. But however, history is not written by winners. It is written by people. It is written by people in order to  prepare for the future.  The belief that history is subjective is postmodernism. To deny history is to deny an event. Things happen in the world, and saying that history is subjective, is like saying nothing really happens in the world. You can argue with the reasoning as to why something historical happened, but you cant deny the fact that something historical happened.

Basically, socialism doesn't work because we live in an imperfect world where perfection is unable to be reached. The idea behind socialism is that everything owned by the government. The government is the one in charge of production and distribution of all things. The government regulates everything including health care and the economy. Socialism takes away the people's ambition. It makes it so that the people cannot rise to wealth because they can only work for the government. Socialism implies that the government is the ultimate power and the ultimate ruler over the people that sets the moral laws. The problem with socialism is that it rewards the lazy as much as it rewards the hard working.

Economics #2

Mother earth is a name for earth. However, it does not mean that earth is a living entity. The idea that the earth is alive comes from a pantheistic worldview. It is incorrect to view the earth as a living entity because God has made a covenant to man, to destroy the earth. But however in the bible, we see that God has only changed it. This is evident through the flood. It would be a sin to trash the earth because it is a part of God's creation. God commanded us to be good stewards of his creation. So we must treat the earth with respect towards God.

Economics #1

First of all, Socialism is when the government owns everything. Our founding fathers did not intend for the government to be run like a business, where the president made all of the executive decisions. He states that socialism is a democracy. That is false. Socialism is a means to control the population and appeal to the majority. It is also a progression into communism. Another problem with his statement is that all religions point to socialism. This is not true. Monotheistic religions point to monarchy. The old testament has Israel being lead by a king or a prophet. This is how governments should be. However, the regions of the world make it imperative to stamp out laziness and provide for yourself and those in need. This video was very short so there wasn't very many points to argue over. Overall though, the only argument that should be made is that he is wrong and needs to be shown the true meanings to socialism and religion.

Politics #2 Abortion

2.
Teenagers who become mothers have grim prospects for the future. They are much more likely to leave of school; receive inadequate prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or end up divorced.

I think that the pregnant teenagers shouldn't have abortions. It is still murder. The teenager should have known that her life would change when she had sex. The problems that ensue should be the punishment for the rest of her life. I mean, that's how life is. She should be punished for the rest of her life for her one mistake she made when she was a young and clueless adolescent. The Bible could back this up in fact, because all of humanity was punished forever because of one mistake that was made by one person. It comes down to the fact that abortion is murder. People shouldn't be allowed to get away with murder, ever. Well except for war, but that's definitely different.  Also, just because a teenager has a baby, doesn't mean her future is hopeless. There is always God. God has the potential to turn around any say story and give life meaning and inspiration. Obviously all of these problems that the teenage mother would face can be overcome. If it's a problem about money, then all she needs is a job. Those are easy to get these days too.All of these problems are presented by statistics. But statistics aren't guidelines. They do not make the decisions for the teenage mother. It is easy not to be another statistic. There really is no good excuse for murder. Except for like, war, or killing animals. But other than that, murder is bad.

Politics #1

What do you think the ramifications of a global secular government would be?
It would be dumb. People wouldn't get along because people don't get along right now. All wars would be called civil wars. That is bad. We can't have wars. That's why we don't have a global centralized government, so we can avoid civil war and disagreements. Obviously a global centralized government wouldn't work because people have different views, and diversity and peaceful coexistent tolerance can not exist under a global centralized government. The efforts to maintain a global government would be worthless because there would be turmoil and religious views that are way too different for the government to handle. The government would not work. That is why governments work so great today, because everyone gets along. Alright, all sarcasm aside, the problems in a global  government, are the exact same problems that every government has already. After reading all of the other arguments, I could take their same points and argue for the eradication of all centralized government. But anyways, a global government is bad because people are ignorant. That is basically the whole argument. Government should not exist because the world is multi-cultured.

ARTS blog

In the beginning of the video he states that beauty is a value, like truth and goodness. I can agree with that, but I also agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So I guess if i were to fix it, I would say that beauty is a value set by God. I disagree with his statement that architecture has become soul-less ans sterile. Architecture has changed, but its beauty lies in its functionality. A buildings function is its beauty. I agree that we are loosing beauty, but only in the sense that beauty's definition is changing. Without God, new beauty is found in function and emotion. It is perceived by the viewer. I cannot be persuaded to think that beauty matters. Everything in God's creation was created beautiful. At the 4:41 mark of the first part, he says that art is a way of humans to show that human life is worth while. I agree with that. Art used to be a way to seize the moment, because of life's fleeting actions. Art was a way to capture and portray the beauty and emotion of everyday life. Paintings were a way to make something immortal. But however, with the faced paced world that we live in today, the immortality and timelessness is shadowed by the ongoing bombardment of  short lived entertainments and expressions. Art has become a quick photo, meant to commemorate one of those short lived moments. I agree with him in the second video where he says how our society puts usefulness first  and goes on to state that beauty is no better than a side effect. Modern architecture is not the greatest crime against beauty. At the 3 minute mark of the 4th part, he says that science of the Enlightenment basically killed off and replaced the worlds perspective of beauty. My views definitely agree with that. This sounds totally cliche right now, because I'm a teenager, but music is my favorite kind or art too. I can see art in any kind of music. A music artist tends to make art in order to give its listeners a view into the artists thoughts. His conclusion was that art is a substitute for religion because arts beauty helps us confront life's problems, just as art is equivalent to the beauty we get from religion because of religions teachings on how to handle life. He says that religion and art both lead to humanity's everyday experiences. I need to disagree because my religion leads to something more than everyday experiences, it leads to eternal experiences in God's everlasting glory and beauty.

Shariah Law

The proposition starts off by saying that the United States started off by rejecting foreign law, however, the author is mistaken. America did not reject foreign law, it only rejected foreign government. Much of the law we have today is taken from the foreign government. Sharian law is basically an old- school view of life. Similar to Mormanism, it values the man, putting him in charge, and makes women worth nothing. In other instances, the law of Shariah makes all outsiders or people who non-followers, outcast and outlaws. All homosexuals or non-muslims could arguably be murdered under Sharian law. This has no place in America because we as Americans have always believed in equality and freedom.

Law #1

Agnostics and atheists would say that law comes from culture, state, country, and municipality. But however, as superior smart people, we know better than everyone else, because law comes from God. Law is the derivation of the consciousness of the people. God created people just as he inspired them. The Holy Spirit is behind all laws that we have now in modern society. God comes first when it comes to law. He is the deciding factor above all. Also, some people might defines law's origins from Natural Law, but God gave everyone the natural law.

equality.

A Christian would define equality as a standard of respect set for everyone. To the Christian, everyone is created equal, and is equal in the eyes of the Lord. However, non-Christians would make equality a physical standard, that determines how people should be treated. As Christians we know that not every person should be treated the same, because not everyone is the same. I think that Christians should all advocate Feminism because it promotes the fair treatment of women. I think that women should get paid the same as a man when they are doing the same job. But however, some problems would arise when people are stupid, and are required to choose women over a man, even when the man is more qualified. But Christians should still promote this movement because it is just another step forward.

Sexist? Homophobic?

First of all, the Bible teaches that everyone is equal. It teaches that we are to be kind to one another. People that are rude and homophobic are wrong in their approach to things. As Christians we should be accepting of the gays. We should also see every person, regaurdless of their sex or sexual prefrerence, as children in Christ. We all need saving. Gay is sin, just like anything else, but we shouldn't predjudice against it. Im against gay marrige because it promotes a lifestyle of sin.

The Government & Parenting

From the Bible, Christians have taught a separation of church, state, and family. Each division has their own set of rules. The most important thing to remember is to follow God's word. A child should be raised by the parent. The was that the parent raises the child should be decided by the parent, and not the government. The only way a government should be involved is for child protective services. Other than that, its up to the parent to raise the child into the person that they want them to be.

that walkey-thingey

My walk started with an opening of the door. It was't really a walk. it was more like a run. on Saturday our practice got cancelled, so later that night i went for a run, to stay in shape. Every journey starts with the opening of a door. then your first two steps. that's why i took a picture of my first two steps. but after that. i put my phone down inside and went for my run. at night time, in the dark. i ran in my dark clothes. i wondered what i would see. i wondered what i wouldn't see. i saw stop signs and i saw road signs. i saw wet pavement and i saw vacant houses. but i never did once see anyone smile. oh well. its no big deal. nothing was familiar to me in the dark, and nothing made my mind wander. but i got to thinking about how, just as the sun had gone down and the day was coming to a close, my time at highschool was coming to a close. the sun is setting.
